Although the average Slovak salary is Sk16,000 (421Euros) per month, according to the SME daily in some regions the average is less than Sk10,000. According to the state Statistics Office, in Sobrance and Bardejov districts in eastern Slovakia workers earn less than two-thirds of the average salary. Experts say the reality is even harsher than statistics show. A union member said that the average salary doesn't accurately represent the lowest wage earned because the statistics are skewed by the high salaries of a small group of managers. The highest wages are in Bratislava, where people make over Sk20,000 per month, on average.
